SERE are pleased to announce their partnership with the oyster festival for the second year running. The Festival this year promises to be even bigger and better with more new and exciting events taking place from Thursday 2nd September to Sunday 5th.
SERE are delighted to have been given the opportunity to be the main sponsors for the festival, Managing Director Stanley Edgar states “Anyone who has attended the festival in the past will know what an enjoyable weekend it is, but the festival has a serious side. It is held every year to raise funds for worthy charities. This year the charity is Please Fix S.A.M. a zero cost charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected with muscular dystrophy. Everyone involved with the charity gives their time, expertise, products and services for free.”
The Festival will have events to suit all, making it a great weekend of fun for all the family. Kicking off on Thursday evening when we see Hillsborough come alive for the first events in the festival calendar with a truly enjoyable evening of fashion for all the ladies. If gorgeous fashion isn’t enough, the evening also plays host to the crowing of ‘Miss Pearl 2010’ including a drinks reception followed by some scrumptious delights from the best of local ingredients. Thursday is the ultimate girlie night out!

On Friday evening the village will roll out the red carpet for the Gala Ball which opens with a drinks reception followed by a night filled with the finest cuisine the village has to offer. Lets not forget the Oysters. . . The Northern Ireland Heats of the Oyster Eating Championship also take place on Friday, the winner of which will go through to the main event, the World Oyster Eating Championship on Saturday afternoon at the big rig on the village’s main street.

Citybeat will be broadcasting from their mobile unit and the afternoon will see the highlight of the festival, the finals of the World Oyster Eating Championship which will have competitors from around the globe. The record is currently held by local hero Colin Sherlow who also holds the WORLD RECORD for Oyster Eating standing at 233 in three minutes!
Saturday evening sees the ever popular BBQ and live music event held in the festival marquee. So why not get your glad rags on and enjoy the music from Lady Gaga and Pink tribute bands along with a few other surprise acts to keep you entertained.
Sunday brings all the Super cars to Hillsborough at Super Dream Car Sunday. There will be over thirty super dream cars valued at over £2½ million including S2 Audi Quattro, a Ferrari `430 Scuderia, Aston Martins, Porsche’s to mention but a few. You will be able to see all the ‘super dream cars’ on display and even get the chance to be taken for a drive.
