National Car Care Month – why you should look after your car
April is the official National Car Care Month, a whole month dedicated to highlighting the importance of looking after your vehicle. We’ve pulled together some of our best advice for everyone who wants to keep their cars in their best condition!
Don’t put them off!
You shouldn’t cut corners with your car, not only could it cost you more in the long run and it can also be unsafe. Regular checks and services are the best way to ensure that your vehicle is up to scratch and safe for the road. Damaged cars cause accidents! A simple check of your tyre pressure or brake pads before you set off could just help you avoid a crash.
Putting off services because you’re trying to save money may seem like a good idea at the time, but this could lead to more serious (and expensive) problems later on.
Small checks you can make today
Not all checks need to be done by a mechanic, there are a lot of simple bits of maintenance you can do yourself. You can give your car a once over and look for any signs of rust or corrosion to the body work. If you don't know where to look, have a look at our guide on how to check for rust.
Have a look at your brake pads, check your tyre tread, change your windscreen wipers, check your oil and water levels or just give your car a good clean. All of these take very little time but will help to prolong the life of your car.
When it comes to car care it’s best to be proactive and find problems before they become serious.
