Stanley Says – New Cars for 2017
SERE’s 3 new car franchises, Mitsubishi, SsangYong and SEAT had a big year in 2016 in terms of new car releases with the likes of the updated ASX from Mitsubishi; SsangYong’s new Musso and Tivoli XLV models and SEAT’s award winning Ateca launched back in September.
This year will see a whole host of exciting new models released throughout 2017 and although design, name and spec for most cars won’t be revealed until the Geneva Motor Show in March, you can still find out about what models you can expect to arrive at our Belfast and Lisburn showrooms this year.
Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi are set to unveil their new SUV, a Nissan Qashqai rival, in Geneva this Spring. The brand hope to expand their current SUV range and this model is set to be the most important release for the brand in recent years.
The new Mitsubishi SUV remains unnamed for the meantime but a single teaser image (pictured above) was released earlier this week.
Mitsubishi indicates that their new SUV will sit in their mid-size range of SUV’s and believe their new model will further strengthen their reputation as ‘stylish, tough and extremely capable’. The Mitsubishi SUV is set for a November release but will be revealed on 9th March at the Geneva Motor Show.
After a big year in 2016 with the launch of two new models, SsangYong are gearing up for the launch of their all new Rexton model.
First previewed in SsangYong’s LIV-2 concept at the Paris Motor Show last September, the concept model (pictured) revealed that the new generation Rexton would obtain sharp features and an updated interior similar to that of their Tivoli counterpart.
Expected to rival Hyundai’s Santa Fe, the new Rexton is rumoured to be priced under £30,000 and is set to further revive SsangYong’s image. The finished production will make it’s grand debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Last but certainly not least is Spanish car brand, SEAT, which will have the most product releases throughout this year.
SEAT will be giving their Leon and Ibiza models a new leash of life in 2017 - the Leon receives a facelift, two new engines and new technology whereas SEAT’s bestseller the Ibiza will have more cabin space and improvements on efficiency and quality.
A very exciting release expected towards the end of this year will be SEAT’s ‘Ibiza-based’ compact crossover SUV, the Arona (pictured).
The brand new model will compete against the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke and is set to be a “game-changer” according to SEAT’s chief executive Luis de Meo. The SEAT Arona as well as the Ateca are also expected to be released in more-rugged X-Perience models. SEAT boss de Meo said: “The Leon, the Ibiza and the new Arona, together with the Ateca, are going to strengthen SEAT from a commercial, financial and brand image standpoint. 2017 is going to be a very special year for SEAT."Go Back
