Stanley's Spotlight - Car of the Month

This week we’re launching a new monthly feature on the blog which highlights a vehicle that I’ve found particularly impressive - perhaps an exciting new release; an innovative concept or simply just a car that I reckon deserves some recognition.

This month, the spotlight falls firmly on the critically acclaimed, award-winning, Spanish SUV by SEAT – the Ateca.

SEAT’s Ateca

The Ateca burst on to the automotive scene last September and very quickly caused a stir amongst industry experts. It’s been regarded as ‘a refined addition to the market’, picked up copious amounts of awards and boosted SEAT’s sales - all in just a matter of months.

As it was the Spanish brand’s first venture into the crossover/SUV market, they had to create something unique to ward off the stiff competition in the segment and even though they were late to the party they actually managed to produce a vehicle that is not only extremely well-priced, stylish and packed with the latest infotainment system but is well built and great to drive.

The Ateca offers a superb performance and comes available in a wide range of variants with choice of powerful petrol or diesel engines and options for front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Alloy wheels, air-conditioning, touchscreen for the infotainment system and leather steering wheel come as standard but the mid-range SE model is packed with extra features including Bluetooth connectivity, colour touchscreen, dual-zone climate control and rear parking sensors. The highest spec model features all of the latter as well as adding wireless phone charging, LED headlights, keyless entry, sat-nav, rear view camera and adjustable driving modes to name but a few.

The family SUV has also received a 5 star EURO NCAP score and comes equipped with Front Assist, City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Recognition systems as standard.

On the road prices for the Ateca start at just under £18,000 which seriously undercuts its competitors and with exceptional performance, practicality, cool styling and value for money it’s clear to see why it’s being branded as the best-driving SUV around
