Your Used Car Questions Answered
We always try to make sure our customers have as much information as possible when buying a used car from us. Buying a car, new or used, is a substantial investment and not a decision we think you should take lightly. The same questions come up again and again so we thought we’d answer some of the more common ones to help make your used car journey that bit easier!
How do the finance options work?
We offer a range of finance packages to suit as many people as possible and they can be a great way to purchase a used car. The first thing you should decide on is how much of a deposit you can afford, the higher the deposit the less you will have to pay off.
If you decide to go with Hire Purchase, the total cost of the car will be split into monthly payments. The longer the deal, the lower the payments and at the end, the car is yours. Personal Contract Purchase usually means you will have cheaper monthly bills. This is because you’re only paying some of the cost. At the end, you can choose to pay off the rest and keep the car or hand the keys back. At SERE we also offer 0% Finance over 5 years on some of our used cars.
Why can’t I see the car’s service history?
Simply put, not all older cars will have this information. Whenever possible, we will give you as much information as we can about the car you want to buy and provide you with the service book complete with dealer stamps. If this isn’t possible we will, to the best of our knowledge, make you aware of any work carried out on the car.
Am I able to see the MOT certificates?
Of course. Legally, if the car you are buying is over four years old it has to have a MOT.
Can I see the car's mileage?
We are more than happy to let you have a look at the car’s V5C to check the mileage. Buying a used car is a big commitment and we want you to be comfortable and happy with your purchase. Take your time to make any checks before you decide to buy.
Should I take the car for a test drive?
This is possibly the most important part of the buying process, and we would absolutely advise you to test drive any car you are considering purchasing. This is not only so you can assess the handling of the car but also so you can see how it can fit in with your lifestyle. Read our guide on how to get the most out of your test drive.
Do used cars come with a warranty?
When you buy from a dealer you are legally protected under the Sale of Goods Act. If you also want to buy a warranty with your used car we will make sure to explain the terms fully to make sure you understand exactly what it covers.
At SERE we pride ourselves on our customer service, so we want you to take your time and make sure you’re buying the right car for you. Get started on your search today with our used car search tool or visit one of our showrooms and our talented sales staff will be sure to look after you!Go Back
