KGM Torres HEV vs Actyon HEV: Which Hybrid SUV Suits Your Family Road Trip?

KGM News

06 August 2026

Packing the car for a family road trip always comes with the same questions. Will everything fit? Will the fuel stops eat into the day? Will anyone actually be comfortable three hours in? The KGM Torres Hybrid and Actyon Hybrid both aim to answer those questions, but they go about it in slightly different ways. Here's how they compare when the destination is more than just the school run.

Fuel Efficiency for Longer Journeys

Both models share KGM's Dual-Tech Hybrid System, pairing a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 176 PS and 300 Nm of torque. On paper, that means the Torres Hybrid returns up to 46.1 mpg and the Actyon Hybrid up to 46.4 mpg on the WLTP combined cycle, so there's very little to separate them at the pump.

In practice, that shared powertrain is good news for road trips. Nine driving modes, including a dedicated EV mode and an engine-drive mode that preserves battery charge, let the car lean on electric assistance in town and settle into efficient cruising once you're out on the motorway. For a family covering real distance, that translates into fewer fuel stops and a longer stretch between fill-ups.

Comfort on the Road

The Torres takes a more upright, traditional SUV shape, which tends to translate into a slightly airier feel in the back seats, useful when you've got car seats, boosters or simply long-legged teenagers to accommodate. The Actyon leans into a sportier coupe-SUV roofline, which looks the part but trims a touch of rear headroom in exchange for style.

Both come well equipped for the miles ahead, with a smooth automatic gearbox, a suite of driver assistance features to take the edge off motorway driving, and a cabin that stays composed at a cruise. If your priority is maximum comfort for rear passengers on a long haul, the Torres has a small edge. If you want the car to turn heads at the campsite, the Actyon does that job just as well.

Luggage Space for the Whole Trip

Both hybrids offer a generous 668-litre boot with the seats up, plenty for pushchairs, holdalls and the inevitable overflow of "just in case" items. The Torres Hybrid's 60/40 split-fold rear seats open that up to 1,662 litres when you need to carry more than passengers, and its 1,300kg towing capacity means a small trailer, caravan or boat is well within reach if your road trip involves more than just luggage.

For most family trips, either boot will comfortably swallow a week's worth of holiday gear. The Torres has the slight advantage if you regularly need to fold the seats flat or tow, so it's worth thinking about how your trips usually shape up before deciding between them.

Tech to Keep Everyone Entertained

Both models feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, so navigation, music and calls stay easy to manage from the driver's seat. The Torres Hybrid pairs this with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for a wraparound dual-screen layout, while the Actyon Hybrid rounds out its tech with 20-inch alloys and ventilated leather seats as standard, a small but welcome comfort feature on a warm day stuck in traffic.

Both are backed by a 5-year, 100,000-mile warranty, with the Actyon Hybrid's battery covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, so peace of mind is built in whichever one you choose.
