Why is your MOT so important?

If you’ve often wondered “Why do I need an MOT? “ then let us explain the importance of making sure that your MOT certificate is up to date and valid.

A certificate will be presented to you following the inspection of your vehicle giving you details of your test, and noted defects and your MOT expiry date. A MOT certificate is needed, in Northern Ireland, for vehicles 4 years and over and is required to be renewed annually or every year. An official test certificate issued from anywhere is the UK will still be valid in Northern Ireland.

The DVA will send out an MOT reminder prior to your expiry date and you should not delay to book a vehicle test. As you cannot drive your vehicle on the road without a valid MOT certificate this will ensure that there is no point in which you will be left without use of your vehicle.

During the test the Ministry of transport check many aspects of your vehicle including warning lights, braking systems, power steering, tyre pressure monitoring systems, air bags and seat belts.

At SERE Motors we offer a fully comprehensive pre MOT check where we will ensure your vehicle is prepared for the MOT test. In fact, we’re so confident, following your MOT test, if your vehicle fails the MOT test, we will cover your re-test fee*.

BOOK YOUR MOT CHECK

Please note that it’s essential to have a valid MOT certificate. It’s illegal to drive without an MOT and if you get caught doing so you could receive a fine of up to £1,000. Current advice from the DVA is to book your MOT appointment as early as possible. SERE Motors can support in making this booking and preparing your vehicle for the MOT test.
