Top tips to look after your car during lockdown!
Since lockdown began a couple of weeks ago, journeys in our cars have been limited… but that doesn’t mean we can’t still show our cars a little TLC!
Here’s a few SERE top tips to help look after your car during lockdown.
Battery Care – If possible start your car and drive for around 15 minutes every 4 to 5 days when you go out to the supermarket to get supplies.
If you’re unable to drive, simply start the engine and run the car for around 15 minutes every few days. If you’re not driving the car, please remember to NEVER leave your car unattended.
If you have multiple cars, alternate between each vehicle when you head out for essentials.
Release the Handbrake – Driving your car once a week will help avoid your brakes seizing.
If you can’t drive your car, roll your car back and forward a few metres every so often if it’s safe to do so.
Before Driving Your Car - Check all your fluid levels and tyre pressures every so often and especially if your car hasn’t been driven for a while.
Keep Cool – When you’re out driving in your car or starting the engine to keep the battery in good order, stick on your air-conditioning for a few minutes to maintain the seals of your air-con system.
Clean, Clean – If possible, give your car an exterior clean, this will help protect the paintwork.
If you’ve been out visiting the supermarket or other essential shops, use an antibacterial spray on your cars interior to reduce the spread of infection.
We hope you all stay safe and well during this time and thank everyone again for their continued support.
